چکیده
Guide dogs are sense-able agents that can assist Visually Impaired Persons (VIP) to achieve mobility. But could a guide dog be replaced by robot dog? Based on video recordings and ethnomethodological ‘conversation analysis’ of VIPs who mobile in street environment with remotely operated robodog or dog, respectively, this paper shows the multisensory semiotic capacities non-human as assistants navigational activities. It also highlights differences between their type agency sense-ability, thus different roles situations assisted mobility disability This contributes research humans non-humans showing how they work not individual agents, but ‘VIP + dog’ operator’ assemblages, demonstrating these assemblages distribute co-construct practical perception material world which is necessary for accomplishing

The world is constantly advancing with technological progress in many areas; however advancements to assist the lives of the blind and visually impaired have been limited. This project presents the development of a navigation system for assisting the blind and visually impaired. The project involves multiple hardware and software components. For simplicity, these components are divided into two...
متن کاملCo-design and Robots: A Case Study of a Robot Dog for Aging People
The day-to-day experiences of aging citizens differ significantly from young, technologically savvy engineers. Yet, well-meaning engineers continue to design technologies for aging citizens, informed by skewed stereotypes of aging without deep engagements from these users. This paper describes a co-design project based on the principles of Participatory Design that sought to provide aging peopl...
متن کاملA Robotic Mobility Aid for Frail Visually Impaired People
This paper discusses the design of a smart mobility aid for frail, visuallyimpaired people. The device is based on the concept of a walker or rollator a walking frame with wheels. The device, which is called the PAMAID (Personal Adaptive Mobility Aid) has two modes of operation – manual and assistive. In manual mode the device behaves very much like a normal walker. In assistive mode, the PAMAI...
